Default 1992 EZ-GO drive clutch removal

I have looked through the site and have gotten a few different statements on the bolt size of the drive clutch. I want to remove it and not buy the tool. Is the thread a 3/4 fine thread? One of the contributors said it was a 3/4 inch thread and I would need a two inch bolt of that size and a 3 inch rod 5/8ths in diameter then just screw it in. Can someone confirm the size on a 1992 EZ-GO ?

Those dimensions are correct for the OEM clutch however as I learned to my chagrin not all clutches are created equal. I removed mine using the 3/4 inch bolt, replaced the clutch and when I came to remove that clutch discovered that I now needed a 9/16ths bolt. Such is life. I would suggest that you buy the 3/4 inch bolt and see if that winds in. If it is too big then you just burnt $3 and you need the smaller bolt. If it is the smaller size then the rod becomes 3/8ths not 5/8ths.

dave's got it right. be sure the bolt will go in at least about a 1/2" so as not to strip out the threads. some pb blaster and working it slowly should work. have to use a 3/4 fine bottom tap on some tho.
