Re: Tachometer
i have a 86 clubcar, i installed the equus tach on the other day and had the same problem you have, i got on here and read alot of posts and picked up alot of info. i tried resistor spark plug, non resistor plug, moving the pick up for tach all over the plug wire and still had the same problem.
heres what worked for me , plug the green wire into the tach, set the tach switch to conv. find the red wire on the ignition coil and splice the green wire onto the red wire, set the tach to 500 rpm, i also had to use a resistor spark plug, it works great now. |

Re: Tachometer
the reason i had to use the resistor plug was because with the non resistor plug it still acted goofy.

Re: Tachometer
What kind of connector did you use and where did you splice in? Do you have pictures?

Re: Tachometer
my ignition coil has 4 wires, the red wire is what i spliced. i cut the red wire and used a weatherproof butt connector. walmart is the cheapest you just crimp them and put a heat gun to it and it shrinks and seals.

Re: Tachometer
Haray tack is working good. Had to set mine at 1000 or 2 cylinder works great and it is reading pretty close i think. Wide open it is reading 4400 RPM. Thanks for all the help.

Re: Tachometer
I got mine setup, and the most it will read is 4400 then it will pop back down but it sounds like the rpms keep going up. Does that sound right? I removed the limiter, and the clamp on the shaft.
