Converter Or Not?
I have a 2007 Yamaha Electric golf car that had headlights and taillights on it when I bought it. Does this mean that there is a converter already installed or do the lights hook up through another way? Thanks

Re: Converter Or Not?
Normally they are run off of 2 of the 6 volt batteries.

Re: Converter Or Not?
Not a stupid question at all, but sometimes it take awhile for a responce. Here's my take...when "The Drive" came out (in 2007) with 4 12 volt batteries, we thought great, just hook up to one battery and done and Yamaha did not supply a voltage reducer for The Drive at that time. NOT the case! That battery will go bad fast (even if you don't use the lights or accessories alot). After several batteries went bad Yamaha came out with a voltage reducer for the light package (48 volts to 12 volts). I would not install any 12 volt acessories without it!!!! All three manufactures (Yamaha/Club Car and Ezgo) tried the 4 12 volt battery set and after a few years...they all went back to 6 8 volt batteries. More lead....more run time. Hope that helped.

Re: Converter Or Not?
I started working on these in late 2006, during the transition from G22 to Drive. If i remember correctly, all YDREs had a 48v-->12v converter when equipped with factory installed lights. although i suppose that we may have specifically ordered them that way, which is definitely smarter than trying to tap into one T1275 battery, (4-T1275 batterys is a terrible system IMO).
