1985 marathon clutch
OK. I have a new drive belt on now and it is the correct lenght but my cart still will not free wheel when sitting still. What could be the problem in my driving clutch that prevents it from spreading all the way apart when parked? With the belt not slipping it makes it hard to start when Im on a steep incline. I have tapped on the clutch with a mallet but didnt make any differance. Please help Dave

Re: 1985 marathon clutch
Did you run the engine with the belt off? This can cause the clutches to jam, sometimes destructively.Pull the cover(3-bolts,plus center-bolt)The spring will have a little tension, but you can easily hold the cover with 1 hand.Look at the spider-assy.make sure it is sliding all the way back,or you may see a problem as soon as you pull the cover.Hope this helps.
