G9 motor mounts, should they move this much?
I had the cart up on a jack a few minutes ago and was checking to see if my belt has a full range of travel. I noticed the motor mounts are really moving a lot (I think) It looks like they are stretching at least 3/4 - 1 inch. Should they move this much or do they need replaced?
I would think this would be costing me a lot of low end power. Am I crazy? If they need to be replaced, should I replace all of them? There are four of them, right? Two front and two rear? Thanks once again, David |

The motor mounts on these will move some. Make sure the rubber inside the mounts is not broken into. To keep your engine from moving back so far when under a load, make sure the little steel cable under the air box is adjusted fairly tight.

spriddle,
Thanks for the info. I was wondering what purpose that little cable served. It is not tight right now and the motor seems (to me) to be moving way more than it should. I know it has to be costing me power. I checked the front two mounts and they are not broken into but they stretch out like rubber bands. I will adjust the cable and see if that helps. How do I know when it is adjusted correctly? Thanks again, David |

Just take out most/all of the slack and it should be fine.

My cart is fairly sensitive to that tension cable. I didn't have one but the motor didn't move that much, anyway it has a lot better pull from a dead stop with that cranked up tight. I found you take a GPS, just run it down a road and tighten the cable until it loses top speed, then back it off a hair....but I have no governor that was about 28 on a dirt drive.

Re: G9 motor mounts, should they move this much?
It makes quite a difference up to 5mph or so. I have a small hill maybe 30 degree, if I stopped the cart it would not take off up it. Cranked that cable up until the cart only ran 25mph and it would rev up and take off right up the hill (from not running) inside of say 2 seconds. Backed it off until 28mph again and it would rev slowly and when it got high enough it took off up hill. So it would take maybe 3-4 seconds to start/rev/and the cart would move out at higher rpm. This was with new belt and half tired motor. If you drove up the hill with two adults on the cart and it near stopped, then floored it, it would do the same thing a couple seconds and muscle right up the hill. Before the cable it would bog and barely get up it, and not go at all if you fully stopped. Over around 5mph it had little effect this way, but I run woods and sometimes you have to climb steep stuff around trees you can't go fast....plus it would no longer pull my boat out and I didn't like that lol.

Does a G16 have the same cable?
