Default 1992 FE 290 broken headbolt

Guy's, my first post...
I have a 1992 Turf 1, gas Fe 290. While changing the blown head gasket, I
snapped off a head bolt. Bolt is broken about halfway down. I have NO
welding equipment. Is there any reasonable way to remove it?
Thanks, Bill

Soak it a few days in PB Blaster and get a LEFT handed drill bit. Bit should be about 1/2 size of bolt. Center punch the bolt and drill it. I have about a 99% rate on getting broke bolts off this way. As you drill they will back out. Hope this helps, good luck and let us know how it goes.

You say broken half way down, you mean in the head or in the block? Can you grab the bolt with anything? Do you have a propane torch?

There is a tool for this called Easy Out. You drill a hole in the middle of the broken bolt and the Easy Out screws into the hole with a left hand thread. If the bolt isn't really stuck it will remove the broken part. Soak it first so it has the best chance of working. You can buy various size Easy Outs at an auto parts store. They usually work on head bolts.

Thanks to all who replied...
haven't pulled the head yet to see if a nub is left.
Just ordered a couple of new bolts, just in case.
Will post when I have the parts and a little time!
Thanks again.

Finally got all the parts and time to work on the cart.
With the head off, there was no piece to use pliers, so a small easy out was needed.
Used PBlaster and let soak for several minutes. The easy out took only an eighth of an inch
Drill and a minute or so with the reverse bit, and the broken piece came right out!
Put all back together and all is good, at last!
Thanks again for all the input.
