The oiling system in our older carts is a simple splash system. The engine is oiled by a simple finger tab fixed to the crank that just dips in and out of the oil during operation, splashing it all around inside the crankcase. It's not a pressurized system, so there's no oil pump and no filter. All the oil light measures is the level of oil in the motor, it's nothing more than an electronic dipstick.

From how I'm hearing it described, my '87 doesn't have a "service switch". Was that something used on only the very first gas carts maybe (84-85)? Where is it in the schematic?

The "service switch" is the toggle switch right in the middle of the page my friend!
My guess is that Club Car had problems with the "oil alert unit" which will shut the engine down,
or the transmission "neutral lock out switch" and redesigned everything for 1986!

As I said before... it's different from what most of us are used too!

I know I told him(springbok) about that switch before and he did not belive me that there were club cars with toggle switches.
