Pulsar switch
92 Marathon, so who has changed one? Did you pull the motor? The service book says it needs .5 volts when the engine is cranking mine reads 0.0. I called the closest EZ-GO place to me and asked for the guy in parts, I guess he was either the parts and the tech guy or just one of those people that knows every dang thing in the world. I asked the price of a pulsar for my 92 Marathon he reply pulsars not bad. I said that is not what I asked I asked how much he interrupted me again pulsars not bad did you check the inline fuse? He asked. No I don't have a inline fuse[ mine had been taken out] do you know what a fuse is? He asked. Now at this point I had not told him I owned a auto shop and worked on cars my life mostly since about 8 years old and how insulting he was. But anyway I thought y'all would like that great customer service story. What about the pulsar do you have to pull the motor? my first thought is yes but then they wouldn't do something like that would they? Jim

Re: Pulsar switch
getting at the Pulsar in a 2-stroke is fairly easy, pull the front engine housing then the fan and flywheel and it's right under the flywheel (You'll need a Flywheel puller *or* a heavy-duty steering wheel puller to do this) ... There's an easier test though, unplug it and hook a DMM set to the lowest ACV setting to the pulsar wires (the ones coming out of the engine from the pulsar itself, not those going TO the pulsar wires from the cart) - crank the engine over and see what You're getting, You should get around a volt (minimum) and if so, the pulsar is fine.
EDIT: You can also use the DMM set to Ohms across those same wires, I've seen them as low as the high 40's and as high as 170 and still function just fine - although I was thrown one time with a misaligned Pulsar, it Ohm'd out OK but wouldn't put out any ACV, that's when it turned out that I'd lost a bolt and it was still fine, just misaligned and not functioning properly) |
