SoC install
Hello! I have a TXT 2001.5 (paddle F/R). I was installing a digital voltmeter in the dash. I saw the three wires coming out of the stock SoC meter,, figured I catch my hot from the key switch and the use the black wire coming out of the stock SoC meter. Had cart in tow maintenance. When I cut the black wire to connect it with the stock SoC, I shorted on something, (maybe key switch?),,, sparks fly! Put cart toggle back in RUN, check systems, notice stock SoC is dark. Disconnected batteries, check my pants, look around some more, then continue to wire up the digital. Finished, hooked everything back up, new meter works and cart appears to operate normally. Except for the stock SoC meter, which is dead.
Anyway I can bring that stock SoC back? Thanks so much for reading, any ideas are appreciated! |

Re: SoC install
ahhhhh and why would you be taking the stock SoC back? I mean after all.....its the SoC that was in the cart originally, right?

Re: SoC install
Thanks for the question/reply,,, I'm asking if I can bring it back to life. I was pondering taking it out of my cart,, and tinkering/testing with it. Those things are like $100!

Re: SoC install
The black wire connects to B- on battery pack and if the run/tow was in tow, every other wire in the vicinity except the red wire from Pin-1, which connects to B+ on the battery pack, ought to have been dead, unless you have lights.
Not sure how sparking B- to B+ outside the OEM SoC meter could have harmed the SoC meter. Here is the wiring diagram. You ought to have battery pack voltage between Pins 1 & 2 all the time and between Pins 2 & 4 when key is on. SoC meter is connected directly to battery pack, but display is only on when key is on. |

Re: SoC install
Thanks JonnyB and BobB. I've check the wiring behind the OEM SoC best I can, everything looks good. Just wondering if it would be easier to remove that tiny screw, to get it out,,, our drill out the rivets to remove the panel. Which do y'all think?

Re: SoC install
Thanks for the recommendation JohnnieB. Got the OEM SoC out, and she's shot. I'll continue reading and enjoying this board!
