G9 back from the dead
WHEN I FOUND THIS CART THE ENGINE WAS SET UP THE FRONT UPPER COWL WAS BROKE THE SIDE PILLARS WERE ALL BENT AND THE COVERS WERE BROKE THE BACK BODY PART HAD HOLES IN IT AND ALL CRACKED UP. ALL THE TIRES WERE FLAT AND THE RIMS WERE PAINTED GOLD. THE FRONT AND REAR BUMPERS WERE CRUSHED IN. I REBUILT THE ENGINE WITH A .50 OVER PISTON AND HAD THE HEAD ALL RE DONE. A GENERIC 4" LIFT KIT NEW TIRES AND RIMS, PLOWMANS SECONDARY CLUTCH KIT. I USED DUPONT PAINT TO PAINT IT AFTER ALOT OF BODY WORK AND AFTER ALL OF THAT PLUS ALOT OF LITTLE THINGS IVE FOR GOT ABOUT LIKE THE LED LIGHTS FOR THE BACK I THINK I HAVE ABOUT $800-900 DOLLARS INTO IT. I BOUGHT THE CART FOR $100.

Re: G9 back from the dead
I wish i had some pictures of it from when i bought it. It dosent look all nice and clean anymore for some reason i cant stay out of the mud. Plus we go trail riding almost every day. This thing will climb hills like a goat.

Re: G9 back from the dead
Yeah man! Progress pics! I will be lifting, painting and torquing my G9 in the next couple weeks. How hard was it to paint the frame and fender wells?

Re: G9 back from the dead
I DIDNT TAKE ANY PICS OF IT WITH THE TIRES OFF. BUT WHEN EVERY THING WAS OFF FROM IT I PUT IT ON A TRAILER AND TOOK IT TO THE CAR WASH FOR A GOOD WASHING. I PUT IT ON SOME 6X6 BLOCKS AND PAINTED IT ALL BLACK EXCEPT FOR THE MOTOR. I COVERED THE MOTOR UP WITH AN OLD BLANKET. THIS LITTLE GOLF CART SUPRISES ALOT OF PEOPLE WHEN WE GO TRAIL RIDING BECAUSE OF THE HILLS WE GO UP. IT RUNS 28mph+ DEPENDING ON IF THE GOVONER IS HOOKEDUP OR NOT. NEXT TIME THE BUNCH OF US GET TOGETHER TO GO RIDING I WILL TAKE PICTURES OF ALL THE CARTS. SOME HAVE BIG BLOCKS AND SOME ARE PAINTED LIKE THE JACK DANIELS BOTTLE. BUT WE ALWAYS HAVE ALOT OF FUN. THIS WAS THE FIRST BIG THING I EVER PAINTED. I READ ALOT ON THIS SITE TO FIGURE OUT WHAT TO DO AND HOW TO FIX MY PROBLEMS LIKE THE AIR BOX THING THAT DROVE ME NUTS THAT IT HAD TO BE SEALED FOR IT TO RUN GOOD BUT IT WORKED.

Re: G9 back from the dead
its a dupont paint i will get the numbers off from the paint when i get home. the hardest part with the paint was making sure the metal flake in the paint was always moving so it didnt settle to the bottom of the paint gun.

Re: G9 back from the dead
Boy o boy, you and Ky_ Mike, have something in common! I get all warm and fuzzy inside when I hear of a car that was beat to he** and brought back to what I see yours is now!
Good job! Ya know, some people get on a golf cart, and just think,"its a golf cart, who cares" and just crash it. Poor things, when they get old most of them are just beat! Love it when I see one restored! |
