Moment of truth
So, it's do or die time. I had posted about this older DS a while back. And it's time to either take a chance that it runs and put a new set of batteries in it and see what happens, or....?
Is it worth the time and effort? Or should I consider parting it out? IMAG0354.jpg IMAG0355.jpg IMAG0358.jpg I do have all the parts to put it back together, minus the front cowl, which the battery supplier says he has. And I'm in it for $150 and some fuel to go get it. So?? Any advice? |

Well,, it don't look so bad,, sure you have work to do but it's not a problem.. Personally i would try to find a cheap used pack of battery to see if the cart run good..i've part out one of my older club car and believe me,, there no big money to do with part...

According to the guy I got it from, who got it as a trade for some welding, it ran fine until they crashed it.
How do I jump the motor if my batteries are bad? |

It's a resistor cart so there is not that much that can go wrong. The motor is probably ok. Look for suspension / frame damage from the crash.

Any 12v battery (even from a motorcycle) can be jumpered to the motor to ensure the motor spins. If it spins, your golden. Since it has a 36v motor; a cart like that (if frame checks out) may be worth conversion to 48v and let 'er fly!

To test run a series motor:
Remove all cables from the motor; connect a jumper from A1 to S1. Connect 12 to 24 volts, positive @ A2 and negative @ S2. Swap S1 and S2 to change rotation direction. |

Well. It sounds like I should move forward with it. I found a recon set of batteries at a local shop that are more than 1/2 price of new. Sounds good for now.
I was kind of thinking of flipping this one anyway and getting something a bit newer. Anyone have experience with those cheap chargers on eBay? I figure they are probably crap compared to a real one. But I'm only using this cart for golf, maybe twice a week, max, so an overnight charger is ok. |
