Default 36 volt club car

the positive side of the solenoid, does that connect to the main battery positive post?

i bought this car from a dealer and he said the solenoid and the forward and reverse switch was bad. he told me that it was a 36 volt resister cart single model. i dont know the year or model.

all the wires are connected but the wire from the positive side of the solenoid is missing and not sure were that lead would connect. i am assuming to the positive side of the main battery

thanks
david

location of seral number ... we can tell the year from it

resistor cart was a DS 88-03

here is the wiring diagram for the resistor cart
the solenoids large posts are wired to the f/r switch and the V-glide
the small posts wire to the f/r limit switch and the V-glide micro switch

remember DC current flows negative to positive
so negative from battery pack goes to motor then coils then v-glide (speed switch) then to solenoid to f/r switch back to pack positive
f/r controls the direction of motor

note: reverse is 18v ( green cable from f/r switch)

These solenoids have no polarity for the most part. Certainly the one(s) in this level cart do not have any polarity so either side can be used for + or - wires with no regard to the big wire destination.

A = Club Car DS 36v
89 = 1989
51 = week of production ( yours was last week for the 89 model year )

yes that is the correct diagram for your cart

btw : it is a very good cart and you have a wide range of mods you can do to it
if f/r switch is bad as guy said you can get a new one
replace solenoid with a 36v one not a automotive one
