EZGO Series
Have a friend that has a series cart...
It is all stock. I know to get to 20 mph requires new controller, motor, and everything else... If you want a few additional mph is there anything else that might increase it a little faster without needing everything? Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk |

Can you put a new controller and selinoid in and get any speed increase on a series cart even if it is not 20 mph?

Re: EZGO Series
Not on a series cart. Those items will simply make the system stronger from a torque aspect. Top end will not change.

So this leads to the larger tires...
Is there any approximate mph increase that can be expected by increasing tire size? Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk |

Yes, JohnnieB has a spreadsheet for that very calculation.

Re: EZGO Series
Top speed for a TXT or Medalist series drive cart is 13-14 mph, so the first thing to do is verify the cart is reaching its normal top speed.
Bad high current cables, connections and contacts will hold the speed down as well as bad batteries, bad bearings and dragging brake shoes. If the cart will go 14.0 MPH on stock height (18") tires: It should do about 14.8 MPH on 19" tires, but will lose about 5% of the available torque. It should do about 15.6 MPH on 20" tires, but will lose about 10% of the available torque. You will have to lift the cart's frame and body off the axles to go taller than 20". |

Thanks Johnnieb
Can you get to 16 or 17 on larger tires with lift kit? Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk |

Re: EZGO Series
Quote:
22" = 17.1 MPH & 18% Torque loss. 23" = 17.9 MPH & 22% Torque loss. Due to the torque loss, the cart won't fully reach the mathematically calculated speeds listed. With a stock controller, stock motor and 36V battery pack, the owner might not be very happy with the cart's performance with tires over 20" tall. |

This cart is going to be a street cart on all flat streets...mainly for his kids.
I think if he had some way to increase 3 or 4 mph without going to alot of expense he would do it. Are you saying increasing the tire size alone is not recommended or will it damage something else? Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk |
