Boys, I messed up...
In my haste to install a stereo, and in my inexperience with electric carts, I forgot to know that the shifter is on a solid Rod rather than the cable on my old gas cart. Anyhoo, can I get a longer Rod, and bend it so that it doesn't hit the speaker? I would prefer not to have to relocate the speakers, as in front of the battery compartment seems to be the best location, but I can cov the holes with diamond plate if needed. Thoughts?

Re: Boys, I messed up...
As an alternate, could I relocate the shifter?

Re: Boys, I messed up...
You could refit the cart with a rocker switch controlled reversing contactor setup that replaces all that hardware. A bit pricey for your mistake, but a nice upgrade depending on your other plans for the cart.

Re: Boys, I messed up...
Cheap fix to weld a little extra length into the rod and go around the speaker.... looks like a problem I might make. LOL
Or pay to upgrade to reversing contactor with an electric shifter switch |

Re: Boys, I messed up...
I figured out what I'm gonna do...
I will remove the speakers, shifter knob, charger trim piece, etc., and will it a piece of thin diamond plate (likely stainless steel), and install it like a kick panel. Then I will drill new speaker holes about 3" below their current location (currently centered in the panel). The speakers will still be mounted securely, as the diamond plate will be bolted to the inner frame of the battery compartment, and the shifter Rod will be able to move unimpeded. |

Re: Boys, I messed up...
You could use something like this, to move the speakers out a little, to miss the shifting rod

Re: Boys, I messed up...
Ok, got it fixed. Removed speakers, installed aluminum diamond plate "kick panel", reinstalled speakers, fnr handle, I just need to drill the hole for the amp gain control and install that tonight. Now on to the next project... Shocks. I think I'm going to go ahead and sell this cart, since I found another one I want to tinker with.
