Serial number throws me off, too. It's been awhile since I've seen one that age in person. I would geuss you have an '82 model, especially with the front end design. Let's hope in your testing that you didn't run it without oil?

the rear end seems to lock up/ stays in gear in it when it isnt off the ground in order to move it i have to lift the rear of the cart and walk it out my shed.

what would be a good size battery to run in this cart?

"Locking up" scares me. Maybe you are referring to the belts grabbing the clutches? It's just harder to roll?

Standard size golf cart battery is a 70 series, any battery store will know what you need if you tell them that. Just look at the orientation to make sure your new battery has the + and - posts in the same spot!!!

the cart wont go into netural so i can move it around. maybe i need a new clutch because when i jack it up and move the tires the belts do grab and i can find netural when the tires are off the ground. i have till april 5 to get her right so i wanna get it moving on the ground under its own power then its paint time.

If my memory is correct - the 2 stroke carts do not push easily. I wouldn't start buying parts for that reason alone. What do you mean that the cart won't go into neutral? Is your F/R shifter broken?

Just reviewed the thread. What exactly is the issue we're dealing with here? Does the cart run now? Did it run when you bought it for $800.00?

it ran before the guy i bought it from put it away for the winter, i bought it yesterday and the battery was dead. i put a new battery in it and it killed it because it was trying to start but all it was doing was moving a little at a time trying to take off but it just killed the battery. i got it home jacked it up and put my jump box on it and hit the gas and it took off ran fine for about 30 seconds on the jack and then it died down and i had to pull the choke to keep it running. once i shut it off and waited a minute and hit the gas the motor just kept turning over trying to start but wouldnt, so im kinda thinking the starter on it might be bad.

If the starter is turning the engine over, it is working correctly. You shold check for trash in the carb / or fuel flow. Aslo see if the plug fouled. Replace it and try to see if she starts.

$800.00 for a 1982 not running is kinda steep. I'd be visiting the seller for some assistance ASAP...
