Default Extra battery Ez go 36 volt cart.

So my wife's neighborhood cruiser golf cart cratered. I traded a buddy a bottle of fireball for a pair of old ez go carts. They look like they should run with batteries. They are 80's 36 volt carts. I have an extra battery, can I run 48 volts through the system and get a little more speed and not cook anything? I can set it up 36, but these things are so dang slow compared to the new carts. I don't want a speed demon, just to keep up with the newer carts that are stock and maybe pull a hill a little better with 2 larger people on board. Also thinking about some larger tires for out at the lake and stuff.

I have a charger that will charge any voltage so that's no issue. Burning up the stuff that may be an issue.

yea the early 80's carts are just rolling toasters
they use a coil system to burn off power

i believe 1989 is the first controller cart but they are 36v too

Well Is there anything simple or cheap I can do for it to make it keep up with the newer carts? I'm not interested in spending much money, I'm just a poor redneck! I have several parts carts if there is anything I can use to make something to amplify power or whatever. I can make cables too so that's no big deal.

No it's just the way they are 12~14 mph
but if you have a few you can get running and cleaned up ... then flip them
a good running 80's cart is worth some profit

BTW an extra battery (6v) would give you 42 v .. that too will burn up a 36v system but not as fast
if you have a 42v charger i'd say what the heck give 42v a try ... you got it cheap
