Re: Series controller sizing help
Well, the good news is that I replaced every contact in my current setup, so they will last a while. That gives me time to ponder my options. The longer I ponder the more money I can spend. If I do go with an alltrax you can bet I'd be getting it from you Scotty, I appreciate the help you provide here.

Re: Series controller sizing help
I did not see the spec in the installation directions, for the small wiring, spade terminals, what gauge should I use? 12,14,16?

So I can't add any useful information for you. I just wanted to say that I think it is awesome that you are keeping this piece of history on the road! Good job!

Re: Series controller sizing help
Bundle of joy arrived. It will replace the short contactor and the can relay, along with a large ribbon resistor and a half mile of unneeded cables. Smaller than I had imagined in my mind. |

Re: Series controller sizing help
16g wire is all that is required in the control circuits.

Re: Series controller sizing help
This is the throttle I used vs the old that had 3 microswicthes.
This is what it looked like right before the transplant. Now I'll have to post a finished pic of these next ones, but... My fr contactor and key switch run on 12v. I had to run this 12v coil relay switching 48v for the new main and footswitch power. The assembly of the new throttle. I added the personality switch to an unused dash switch labeled acc. The acceleration feels about the same as I used to drive it. Perfect amp selection. Thanks!!!!!! |
