2015 Yamaha 48v rear scraping sound
Hi, I just bought a 2015 Yamaha 48v cart and I noticed the rear has a scraping sound which gets loudest at top speed. It does not have a sound when coasting or letting off accelerator. I checked the brake drums (dry system for 2015) and with the cart in Tow when spinning the rear wheels no sound. But, when the motor is powered an annoying scraping sound. I have good level gear oil in rear as well. Has anyone else had an issue like this on such a new cart? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much. 1st time on this site.

A simple place to start is to change the gear oil in the transaxle.

Checked rear oil. It is to level and new in clear condition. Any other ideas. Someone posted on ytube a similar issue and it was a rubber grommet that needed to be replaced between the elec. motor and armature. Not sure the process to replace the grommet.

Re: 2015 Yamaha 48v rear scraping sound
Anyone? Was hoping for more of a response. Thinking I cant be the only one with an issue like this. My dealer told me Yamaha switched back to the cheaper dry brake shoe set up in 2015 and that models for a number of years prior were wet brake rear and of higher quality. I have (3) 2013 models and all are a extremely quite.

Snowman I wish I could help more with this but I'm not really Yamaha experienced.
What I don't understand is you describe the problem "under load." Something loose/worn in there would rattle while coasting and be quiet while under load. Something stripped in the rear/axle maybe? |

There is a grommet to be placed at the end of the motor shaft, on Club Car anyway. However, as new as your cart is, I would find it highly unlikely that would be the problem. Something amiss in the rear end or in the motor would be my guess. |

I have a similar sound. Almost like a grind, but not all of the time. It drives me mad! Any progress on solving this?
