Default 2001 Ezgo PDS intermittent slow speed

Pds will run fast but occasional when I stop I’ll start to go again and it runs slow

I can wait turn key off and then it will run fast again.

Controller or speed sensor.

Is it that limo cart? Is it a stock controller? More details please.

No not limo cart. It’s lifted 2 seater.

I can’t get it to go into diag mode.

Thinking controller maybe getting hot but always thought it shut completely down not slow mode.

Be sure Keyswitch is OFF and Run/Tow is in RUN when going from Neutral to Reverse 5 times.

I spent some time banging my head against a brick wall trying to get into diag mode with key on, when I was running a stock PDS controller.
-------------
Stock PDS controllers don't play well with tall tires and lifted carts tend to have tires taller than stock, so you are likely to be right about controller overheating.

The controller cuts back rather than shutting down when it overheats, but just cycling keyswitch doesn't clear it, it has top sit for a few minutes and cool down before it goes back to normal speed.

Pretty sure that is it. Would stock controller upgraded to 400 amps due the job?

The heat dissipation properties of a 300A controller modified to pass 400A is the same as it was when it would only pass 300A. (Same case and same heatsink area.)

Drop an Alltrax XCT48400-PDS (or larger) controller into it and hold onto your hat. If it is too fast or has too much performance, it is user programmables, so it can be de-tuned.

Okay after doing more research. I can ride my cart all day no issues. When I turn lights on. I can ride but once I stop when I start back up I’m in slow mode. A 22” led light bar was added to cart. It does not a relay. Could this be this issue.

Sound like under voltage reduced performance mode. You really need to put into diagnostics. Is no beeper the reason why you can't?

As an alternate, try turning light bar off and waiting for 10 to 15 minutes before trying to drive. (Gives battery pack voltage time to recover.)

Also, monitor battery pack voltage and find out what it is at when it starts in reduced performance mode.

---------------
How many amps does the light bar draw?
Is it powered via a voltage reducer, or is battery pack tapped for 12V?

Battery pack for 12v. I’ll check amps on light bar

Drawing 12V for the LED light bar from two of the batteries in the battery pack is killing those two batteries.

Some of those LED light bars draw over 10A @ 12V and a 10A imbalance can cause a battery pack to have all sorts of conniptions.

Always run 12V accessories from either a separate 12V battery or a voltage reducer that draws amps equally from all the batteries in the pack.

Connect a 12V charger across those two batteries after the whole pack has been charge with the 36V charger and charge the daylights out of them and they might recover to about the same storage capacity as the other four.
