Man said he was kidding. I thought it was funny.

So you HAVE the cables. My bad. You just don't know where they go. OK.

The old 4 post controllers had 14 pieces. The new 3 post controllers use 13 pieces.
It's recommended that 13 pieces be used even with the old controllers. The 4th (A2) post on the controller is not needed and should not be used to extend the life of the controller.

So you recommend running that cable straight from the F/R to the motor? Please LMK.

Following this closely too, since I just picked up a 94 Marathon and one of the first upgrades will be new cables. The way I read scottyb's post is that the 2 cables that run from the 12 o'clock term on the F-n-R switch to the A2 term in the controller, and then to the A2 term on the motor is replaced with one cable from the F-n-R switch that bypasses the controller and goes directly to the A2 on the motor. He also feels this mod extends controller life.

Me being the curious type - what's the reason for this, or what does this mod do? Did they do all of the current adjustments through the other controller term?

Ditto. Inquiring minds want to know.

Oddly enough I had requested some extra cables. And I have one extra for that length.

Newbuggyboy - I did some research and the A2 on the controller is for an unused braking feature. So it is correct that you can run the cable directly from the "C" term on the F-n-R switch to the A2 on the motor.

So now it's 13 cables LOL

Found those posts and others. Bottom line is - I'm only going to make 13 cables. Omitting the A2 connection at the controller.

Let me know how that works for you. I have the longer piece of cable, but I'm no where near adding the new batteries.

At least you are able to work on yours. I just bought mine from a buddy, and it seems like accessorizing his wifes new Harley has become more important than getting the cart out of the shed for me to pick up. Some people really have their priorities mixed up . . . LOL
