Default Suspension Questions

I am slowly working/planning the build of my project 98' DS. Spend a ton of time here reading and researching past articles and builds. Couple of questions. I am probably leaning toward a wheel/tire combo of 20". Would like to do the 1" spacer up front, What does flipping the rear axle get you in terms of additional height? I have seen folks mention it here but frankly I don't see it done in a lot of lift threads. Most seem to do shackles and springs. Does anything else have to be done when flipping the axle? I can certainly make longer shackles as well. I just want it to sit a little higher than stock. Don't need a big lift.

I understand the shocks are really there to just dampen body movement. Should I go ahead and replace mine since they are most likely 20 years old at this point. If so I have read about people using Monroe or other automotive brands. What do you guys think?

On my 98' do I have serviceable wheel bearings or are they the sealed type I have read about?

Last but not least. This boot is torn on my front end. Where can I get a replacement? Thanks to all, can't tell you the number of hours I have browsing through this site. Joe

Most lift "kits" relocate the axle below the springs. The minimum increase doing that is about 4". If you only want a 1" lift longer shackles are the easiest way to get that.

There is a set of monroe rear shocks that people like to use for the rear with certain lifts. I don't remember the number, but its posted around here a bunch.

The front wheel bearings on yours are serviceable.

Steering rack boots can be bought form most online vendors or almost any cart shop.
Original club car boots will last longer than the chinese aftermarket cheapos.
For OE parts at the best prices check with David at http://www.revolutiongolfcars.com/

Usually when you have to replace the rack boots it's a good idea to replace both, and make sure the inner tie rod end on the right side is not worn out or bent. Also if both boots are off you can clean any old grease and dirt from the rack (the actual gear shaft that slides in the housing) and put some fresh new grease on it to keep everything moving easily.

Noticed that as well! We're pretty spread out, but there's quite a few of us ginnys on here.

In your picture above there appears to be some wires or cables running between the wheel and the steering arm. What are those for? That's not exactly an ideal place to have wires kinda dangling through there.

Good Eye. A previous owner had installed some very cheesy lights on the windshield frame. They were mostly hanging when I got the cart but it is a total project. Those are the wires for the lights that ran under the front cowl. When I cut the lights off the wires are just lying there. Just have not cut/pulled them completely out yet. Here is shot of the before.8.jpg. Sorry for sideways, thought I rotated it.
