Default 2009 TXT Question

Going to look at a 36v 09 txt for sale tomorrow. Cosmetically real nice, lots of additions, says has a high speed chip,
Question is what upgrades mechanically do I need to ask the owner that he did or did not do with the addition of the speed chip. Could the chip upgrade create future problems if other upgrades were not done.
Thanks

The main thing you need to worry about it the health of the battery pack. I’ve heard a lot of guys mention to just consider the cost of a new pack in the overall price of any used cart you buy. At a minimum, check the brand, model, current soc, and get a look inside. There’s a date code on the top of the battery somewhere. Check that too.
I do t believe just the speed chip causes any problems.
What additions are you saying it has? If there’s a lift and big tires on it, some performance upgrades should probably be there. Spinning the bigger tires takes more amps. Check the size and condition of the cables too, but it’s not a huge expense to upgrade those.

It has 12 in wheels and tires, says 2019 batteries, going to take my tester with me and test them.
It is lifted, turn signals, brake lights, horn are listed additions.

If it has a chip it probably still has the stock controller. That is okay if it has 20” tires or smaller. If it has bigger and lifted and the rear seat, etc.. It is okay but put a new controller and solenoid on the upgrade list because it will fail eventually because it is not designed for that. Once done a txt is pretty bulletproof.
