charger not shutting down
2009 Precedent 48V. I noticed this morning the charger had not shut off. My wife said yesterday it had not shut off either. We charge it every night. Batteries never get below 3/4. Trojan batteries a couple years old. Static voltage was 51.6 after I let the cart rest for an hour after I disconnected the charger. Is it a charger problem or a cart problem not indicating a full charge?

Re: charger not shutting down
It is an OBC problem. GO to Tow, then unplug the pack negative for a half hour to reset the OBC, then reconnect the negative, the go back to Run. That will reset the OBC.
If it works correctly thereafter, you are good. If not, you will need to replace the OBC or upgrade to a smart charger like a Summit II. |

Re: charger not shutting down
Thanks. I noticed there is a slight amount of corrosion on the neg terminal also. Probably a good time to take care of that also.

Re: charger not shutting down
Check the voltage of each individual battery after they have been off the charger for about 12 hours. If you have a bad battery the voltage will not get high enough for the charger to turn off.
Also make sure the water in the batteries is at the correct level. |

Re: charger not shutting down
Resetting the OBC had no effect. Still overcharging. Batteries have correct level.I will have to test each battery but I think its going to be the OBC. I'm scared to leave the charger on now since it has not been shutting off and you can smell the overcharge. Is it better to get the summit charger or a new OBC. I'm leaning toward the charger even tho its more money may be better in the long run.

Re: charger not shutting down
12 pages on how to bypass the OBC. kind of confusing. Is there a simple diagram?
