accelaration problem

maybe someone could help,,,when i press the pedal the cart takes off but then it starts to wind out almost as if im stuck in first gear and when i go full throttle it bogs down and when i let up it continues to wine ,,its a g2 1986,i change belt,bypassed govener,,,please help

I'm going to kind of guess at this for now. Need a little more info. But, it sounds like maybe your motor mounts are worn, tention cable broke or out of adjustment under the air filter, or worn clutch. This model also has a rev limiter that will cause the engine to shutdown at a certain rpm and then pick back up after letting go of the throttle. But, I'm thinking you got something that is not keeping tention on the drive belt. Jack the back of the cart up for safety purposes, put it in neutral, run it and see if the belt rises all the way to the top of the front clutch and down the back clutch. Notice if the engine moves back quite a bit.

dosent look like motor is moving not sure about tenion cable there is a little 4 inch cable bye the air box that is loose

Question! Did it do this before you "massaged" the govenor?

yes i only bypassed it to see if there was a govener prob i put back to stock,,its very jumpy if you put your foot on pedal it takes off but then just wines out and the rev limiter kicks in,,i guess i will take it in and have somebody charge me a arm and a leg to fix,thanks for your input

i can move the one that spins in and out, not sure what ya mean about both clutches , does the one against the motor move in and out or just the big fat one just move

There are 2 clutches, one on the motor, and one on the transmission. Sounds to me like both clutches may need to be greased( if they are not warn out). These guys know what they are talking about, They'll get you going!

Quick lesson, golf carts have two clutches, a "drive" clutch which is on the motor and a "driven" clutch that is on the transaxle.
As engine RPM increases weights in the drive clutch move the two halves together causing the belt to move to the outer diameter of the clutch.
As it does this the driven assy. moves apart allowing the belt to move lower in the driven clutch.
This is how the drive ratio is changed to increase start off torque and then higher travel speed.

There is a grease fitting on both clutches.
The drive clutch fitting is on the outer rim and the driven clutch fitting is on the lower inside toward the transaxle, couple 2 or 3 shots in each might help.
Put your cart in neutral, raise the seat and push the pedal.
Watch to see if both clutches are cycling through this process.
I would think one or both of your clutches is sticking and need a good cleaning.
