So... what do you think I should do?
I bought my G9 about 2 months ago for 650 dollars. I've only stuck about 150 into is so far. But It NEEDS, a new Primary clutch ($300), Secondary (150), Carburetor (130), Exhaust (100), and more than likely a rebuild ($400+). That is over 1000 dollars which is more than I spent on the thing.
I'm looking for some ingenious ideas. Is it worth if for a 285cc Engine. Or should I find an old snowmobile engine and fit that into it? Let me know what you would do. Thanks! |

1650 Is that good? Will I be happy with the power I get from a 285? I have no idea what to expect.
Thanks for the input. |

If it were me, I'd go this route.
http://www.cartpartsplus.com/18-hp-v...-g-2-9-14.html Yea, it's going the wrong way price wise, but you will be happy |

Re: So... what do you think I should do?
I replaced just the primary sheave (front clutch) for $185. the secondary sheave, for $53. Find out if you need a carb. or rebuild, muffler, maybe somebody on here has one. If the crank and block is good, I can't believe it would cost $400. to build a motor. Slow down and check things out. It could work out! Mike

Re: So... what do you think I should do?
that bolt in 18 hp looks sweeeeeet! But your right-- a little pricey. Mike Mac.. May I ask where you got a primary clutch for 185? That would really be nice. I just found a carb on ebay for 40. This build could be cheaper than originally thought--- Thanks Again your all helping a ton

How do intend to use this cart, and what's a reasonable budget? We haven't even gotten into lift/ tires/ wheels etc......

Re: So... what do you think I should do?
In another thread it was suggested that this engine would be good in a G2.
Double the horsepower & not that much more money. You still need the clutch & exhaust but you will probably be thrilled when it's done. |

Re: So... what do you think I should do?
I got mine from TNT golf cars.com. But call your local Yamaha dealer probably very comparable. Also you always want genuine Yamaha parts, unless it's race parts from plowmans, jakes or cpp (venders on site) etc. Look up parts on TNT'S site so you know what your looking for. And read all the Yamaha posts on this site, pages and pages, you will get an education about your car. Then if you still want to BB who can blame you!!
Good luck Mike! PS. Have you even driven your car, has it ever run since you've had it? |
