45mph? Come on, now - 25mph sounds about right for what you have done to the cart. High speed gears should add 5 - 6 mph over stock - that's it...

was doing 25-30 mph before the gearz . though does feel like it has more low end now which i thought would be the opposite with the hs-gears.I read somewhere a guy was 12 on his stock golf cart and with hs gears was hitting 30 mph .I will back that 10mm nut out in the morning and see what that does .

gps clocked me in at 24.3 mph.Maybe those hs-gears dont work.I think i need a new drive belt the one one my now is slick i think thats why my g-16 barely moves xd.I think with 23" tires would give me a better speed increase than 8:1's

There you have it from an expert. I think you're expecting TOO much from your cart.

Start with the belt, and make sure your clutches are getting their full amount of travel.

I like Flints idea. Check that the clutches are working properly. With the gov by passed on my G16 I was doing just short of 30, with the gears I would think you should get at least 30 unless the motors tired.

dang, my Garmin clocks my stock cart at 23mpg too with just the governor screwed in, hmm, does the G14 not have the same type rev limiter like my old G2 Had? this one don,t apper to cut out and restart after revs go down like the old one.It Just appears to Top out and stay same on flat ground or down hill.
