g-16 carb question! need help!!!!!
I have a 99 g-16 and have the plowman's high perf clutch kit and the custom pipe and muffler. I had the k&n air filter and did the mod to the air box but it wasn't enough so I installed a UNI pod filter and it kicks butt. My problem is that every once in a while it back fires and it sputters on take off. No matter how much I adjust the screw with the spring behind the carb it doesn't seem to help. I am not sure if the needle in the carb can be adjusted or not. If it can should I move the needle up or down. I have the bigger jets in it that I got with my kit from plowman's. I don't want to go back down a size in jets. I think Its just a problem with adjusting the carb. Like I said I tried everything and every position that is possible with the screw with the spring in the back of the carb. Please help.

Re: g-16 carb question! need help!!!!!
A buddy of mine is telling me that I should move the needle up or down in the carb. I am not exactly sure how to do this. Ant suggestions? Thanks, you have been awesome at letting me pick your brain.

Re: g-16 carb question! need help!!!!!
I am new at carts but an old hand at dirt bikes. I believe the needle is what you are looking to adjust. There is a tiny clip on it and about 5 or 6 small notches it fits in. If you drop the clip to a slot closer to the tapered tip that goes in the main jet it raises the needle and a richer mixture ( more gas) comes about. The opposite is true if you put the clip on a higher notch toward the top of the carb thus the needle goes further into the jet and less fuel is allowed in. If I remember right these adjustments only effect low to mid range power due to the fact that when you open the throttle all the way the needle is all the way out anyway, and the size of the main jet takes over
