Default Suggested motor and controller to acheive 25-35mph.

I know this topic has been beat to death, but I'm looking for a straight forward answer I'm looking to upgrade the speed of my 05 ezgo series cart and would like to know what motor and controller I would need to reach speeds of 25-35 mph. My cart is strictly street and sees no hills. Ive been looking at the Plum-Quick assassin motor and Alltrax 400A controller. I have already upgraded to 4 gauge wiring, I will be purchasing a heavy duty F&R switch assy. I would like to stay at 36V if possible even though I will be replacing the battery entire pack. If upgrading to 48V is mandatory to get the speed I'm looking for what parts can I get first that will work with 36V/48V? I would like to upgrade one part at a time and would like to get the bang for my buck as I build.

Thanks in advance!

You are definitely going to need 48v to get to 25 mph in a series cart. And I would go with a bigger controller too. Maybe bigger cables too.
Once you build a strong enough system you could go with the high speed gears and push on up around 30mph

There is a very big difference in system requirements between a target speed of 25 and 35 mph....

Thanks for the reply Scotty! Do you know what Alltrax controller I could get that would accept 36V until I upgrade to 48V? Also would the Assassin motor work on 36V until the upgrade or should I just contact PlumQuick?

What kind of speed should I expect with....

4 gauge cables(already have installed)
Heavy duty F&R switch
Alltrax controller(don't know which one?)
PlumQuick motor(don't know which one?)
New 6V Trojan T-105 batteries

And will this all work together until the 48V upgrade?

Thanks again!

Most controllers are made to handle a range of voltage input like 24-36 or 36-48. So you won't have any trouble running on 36 and later 48v with that type of controller whether it is a GE, Alltrax or Logisystem. The Assassin motor from PQ is not a series motor. It is sepex. I think you can get the cart to 25mph along the lines of what you are talking about....You didn't say what size tires you were planning on running, Or how many passengers or what terrain? And lastly, you can change the gearing and reach higher speeds if you have the torque to turn them..

I'm running a 12'' wheel with 35 profile tires, two passengers on asphalt. I was also thinking about those speed gears if the motor and controller don't satisfy me, but I would like to keep some torque for better pickup.

Scotty, what combo would you suggest I start with. I just listed alltrax and plumquick because I see thats what most members use, but I'm open to any setup.

Thanks for your help!

Hotcat, make 48v your first upgrade. Do not waste time on 36v.

Will the stock motor and controller handle 48V?

The motor will .... the controller won't.
How tall are those tires? ... in inches?
