Hopefulyl this link will work...Can anyone tell this newbie how to defeat the governor on a 2002 Yamaha g16a using the attached diagram link. Identifying what to do using the numbers on the diagram would be helpful in a step by step manner.

Buddy, I have a G8 but similar, Just take the long throttle cable from the foot pedal and attach it straight to the carburetor. remove the short cable all to gather.

There is much posted on this subject with pictures if you search this site. Read and understand before you do it. Much improvement!!

You came the right place, Welcome Mike

Better yet....try Tom's www.cartpartsplus.com "speed spring". It will give all the speed you'll need

Dave, follow Smallblocks lead, He's one of the best here!

Can't tell you how it works, don't have one. I'm guessing you still have the gov. influencing how much RPM the motor can turn.

Did you use the search feature at the top of each page?

It works great I have installed many. It works because the new "speed spring" is much stiffer then stock. Same as if you turn the govenor adjustment nut in all the way. The stiffer spring is stronger then the weights on the input shaft that pull the accelerator cable #2 /throttle shaft back. I don't like to bypass the govenor and take the chance of over reving the engine causing damage. Many do bypass, but I beleive they also "listen" to the engine for over reving. It's your car, do what you feel is best.

Sounds like just what I've been loking for...The comments on the website say it is a little tricky to install... I figure like anything you do for the first time...Do you have any tips for the install..? I agree about bypassing, I don't want to blow her up...
