what year G1 do I have?
Hey guys I am new to the cart world. I just bought my first cart, an old G1 and I want to do some mods to it but I do not now what year it is and can not find any identification on the frame. Anyone have any ideas or know how to tell if it is a pre 82' model. I am thinking about purchasing a Jakes lift but want to make sure it will work.

Might look at the "sticky" above...serial number locator. As for the lift kit, would be the same for all years of G1. As I understand, the main frame may need "working" to alow primary clutch clearance. Welcome and good luck on your build

Not true. Jakes kit fits 82 and up. It can be done on later models, see my link on page 2 My 1979 G-1 rebuild. My 79 has the frame stamped on top of the cross member that the upper rear shock mounts are welded to. How bout some pictures....I have heard everyone likes pictures here......... I just looked at the sticky and if I understand it right the G1 should be located in the back driveside corner, but I do not see anything there, is it located on the frame, the bumper, the bumper support, I can't seem to find it.

ya I could barely read it, I added a 12" platform to the back for a foot rest for the bench seat I made for the kids. I almost covered it up with my weld LOL but got lucky and could just make out the numbers.

It's funny because on my '84 G1 it took forever for me to find the serial. It was stamped on the RIGHT side behind the passenger tire on the frame. But I found the matching serial # on the engine after a bit of cleaning. Mine must have been stamped on a Monday by the new guy at the plant.
