Wire from directional switch to terminal S2 getting very hot!
Well I am a newbie to this forum, I ve got a 1996 EZGO and the wire from the directional switch to motor terminal s2 is getting extremely hot. ive replaced it with a heavier wire, and that melted. please let me know on what to check. if this is a common problem then what should be done next

well took apart the motor and found that the magnets exploaded

Most of the time that stuff starts with a bad connection somewhere. Either the cable itself, loose connections or the F/R contacts....or internally in the motor. When you get it fixed make sure the F/R contacts are good. |

When you upgrade cables you should do the full set not just the one that got hot.

Got the motor back today from being rebuilt, hooked everything back up, drove it wire still extremely hot!!!! will having it lifted with dirt tires (for a quad) to do with it?

I am working on a cart with the same problem. Initially burned the f/r swith b connection. Replaces the f/r switch with a beefed up model. Also rewired with number 4 wires.(complete). S2 terminal melted after about 12 miles of operation. Motor is a purple PlumQuick.
