Default 96 ezgo txt- melted cable

Well, I'm back with another problem. Last fall my cart shot sparks out the back and stopped working. Due to moving, a new kid and a new job I am just now taking a look to figure our what the heck happened...so here it it.

I removed the batteries and found the cable connected to the A2 post on the motor melted/burned off. So I'm thinking that the sparks were from the cable dropping down and making contact with the motor.

Questions:

What would have caused this?

Is the motor toast?

Are my batteries toast?

any help is greatly appreciated!

The cable most likely came loose, which caused it to heat up and then burn up. Get a new cable made, check all your connections, charge your batteries and see what happens. It may run it may not, but got to try first.

yes it most likely came loose and then melted not uncommon chances are if you replace it and make sure all cables are clean very clean and tight thats all you,ll need...........be careful with the nuts on the motor they are double nutted and you don,t want to twist one off cause than your yanking the motor..............................

Thanks guys. I fixed the cable and charged the batteries two at a time and now we are running. Except there's a clicking sound from the rear...any thoughts on this?

Remove the hubcaps, if it persists, it might be a wheel bearing?
