Default club car dies going into gear

Just bought a used club car gas cart.It starts right up and runs fine in neutral. As soon as I try to put in F or R, it dies like you shut the key off. If I step on the pedal with it already in a gear, nothing happens. Any help is appreciated.

It's in Service/Maintenance mode!

Lift the seat and look at the backside of the shifter, You'll see a yellow knob with 3 bumps on it,
Pull out on that knob, (spring activated) rotate it almost 180 degrees, and gently slide it back in under the micro switches!

Put the shifter in forward, or reverse and try again!

I have a diesel club car and it runs perfect but when you put it in gear it cuts right off. I looked for the linkage thing you were talking about. It doesn't have it. Do you have any ideas?

The only CC diesel carts I know are the larger XRT's, I don't know much about them, but, I think they're a completely different animal!

The diesel is a key start and can only be started in neutral, then you put it in gear and drive.I think there is a switch under the seat that says maintenance and run but don't quote me on this as I have not looked at one for a while. Will look after the weekend and let you know if you are still having problems.

The diesel does not have anything to shut it down when put into gear. Can you put it into gear easy or is it hard to put into gear when running?
If so then you may have clutch problems. If not then something else is shutting the hold solenoid off.
