drmax, on your 95... you should have a two part trans-axle!

oh...thx for that link. yeah, i see that on mine. So, the top get serviced the same as the bottom, and most likely the same type oil. Cool, Thx....dm

The manual actually calls for SAE 30 in the transmission (top case)
But 80w-90 has been working very well in my buddies 94!
(his idea was... "gears should use gear lube... screw the manual!")

the manual pic on the 1st page of this thread doesn't show the qty for top case. do you happen to know? I'm guessing its a bit let than the differential. I ask because i got about 1/3 bottle of the 80-90 left. No biggy if u don't know. If you have a look at that manual picture, it shows it the other way around...meaning the gear lube in the top, sae 30 in the bottom....

Well... I'll be darned! It says that in my 94 manual also! I stand corrected!
(I have an 07 DS... it's rare that I have to look in the older manuals!)

Again, 80w-90 will be fine in both, and no... I don't know the quantity,
It doesn't say in the manual... I always just filled it till it came out the fill hole.
