Alltrax outputs only 8v
I bought a brand new alltrax npx controller hooked everything up correctly im sure...i lifted the cart up and started to press the throttle and is seemed ok. I lowered the cart down and it would barely move. I tested the voltage coming out of the controller and it only read at 8.4v.
Any idea guys? |

Re: Alltrax outputs only 8v
Nothing wrong with the diagram so you probly either fried the controller, it was defective to start with or your battery pack is dead. At any throttle level you should get pack voltage....its not like 1 volt at start with up to 48 volts wide open. If your using an old analog dial type volt meter it might measure wrong. Best to use a digital meter.

Re: Alltrax outputs only 8v
Thanks for your reply roady89
mmm...ughh i hope its not fried, i never saw or smelled any smoke...the battery pack is at 36v right now and i am using a digital meter. Should i give a call to alltrax directly or Evdrives where i got it from? |

Re: Alltrax outputs only 8v
do you mean pack voltage when throttle is open at the motor connections?
because thats where it reads 8v at open throttle and barely runs |

Re: Alltrax outputs only 8v
Pack voltage on B+ and M- should be within a volt or 2 of total battery pack voltage. It wont read like from 1 volt at stop and 36 wide open...it should read 36 volts all the time.
All it takes to fry one is one little spark and there toast. No smoke, no nothin. Heres an alltrax diagram for that set up. http://www.alltraxinc.com/files/Doc1...e-wire-dia.pdf |

Re: Alltrax outputs only 8v
i did get a small spark when connecting to the batteries, but i think that is normal as it happens in cars also. I did the controller powers up but cart does not move test on this document and it worked perfect.
http://www.alltraxinc.com/files/Doc1...ting-Guide.pdf Would this be a sign that its not fried? |

Re: Alltrax outputs only 8v
here are some tests i did with meter on M and B+
Controller alone at 0% throttle: it read 15.6V at 100% throttle: batt pack voltage Controller and Motor connected at 0% throttle: 0.0V at 100% throttle: 7.6V this now makes me wonder if its the motor, but i tested it alone and ran it fine. here are some pics of what i believe are the connections on the motor, i found them using trial and error based on some diagrams i found here. |
