I usually cut about a 1 1/2 wraps off the end of the spring befor installation for smoother takeoffs. You have to put the cut end up in the movable sheeve side. Not the bearing side because it will destroy the idler bearing.

Ok I may try that thanks. Feels like its gonna snap the rear end now. Before it was super smooth and fast about 22mph. Just bogged on hills now if I could locate this rattle at half to full speed. The buttons r a little wore and were loose when I pulled the rear clutch. But I don't see what could be rattling. I tighten them up but may just order new ones anyway. This decent deal I got on this car is getting expensive. Still got a 600$ idea for radio and 200 for lights.
