Default Cruising along then it quits.

99 Club car gasser, stock engine FE 290 6in lift. I'm rolling along nicely then the engine dies, no spitting or anything. I move the F-N-R switch to neutral then back to drive and away I go. may or may not quit again.

Any thoughts? I'm thinking the micro switch at the F-N-R ?

Thanks in advance,
Shaun

I had a very similar issue a few weeks ago, very intermittent, dying-out engine. But it would always come back, and I never had to move the shifter. Had a spare carb in my basement so I swapped it out and haven't had a problem since.

With my issue, it was more likely to die out when I had passengers than not.

Thanks for the reply, I'm going to try another micro switch to see if it helps.
I don't think mine is a carb. issue. cause if I don't move the F-N-R to neutral and back it won't run.

I have a very similar problem with my 1994. I have replaced the little module on the front of the engine and replaced all four micro switches. Still the same problem, very intermitent. When it quits there is no spark and if you move the F-N-R handel back and fort some you can get it to take off. any help on solving this would be great!!!

Thanks for the reply, I'm now thinking it could be a loose connection somewhere near the shifter.
I'll keep looking, and update if I find anything.
Any thoughts from anyone else ?

You're sure that it's an electrical problem? It sounds like it probably is, but to be 100% sure, the next time it craps out, don't move the shifter, pull the spark plug out and hold it with some insulated pliers against the motor (to ground it), hit the gas and check for spark. You should hear the plug clicking and see it sparking. If not, then you'll know for sure it's a spark issue.
