Why? My batteries read higher than the meter.
If anything maybe a new DVM.

Actually my current one is more accurate than the one I replaced which was .4 lower than actual. Getting better each time. Maybe the next one will be dead on

I know the meters read after removed from the charger 12-24 hours, but i typically just leave the charger plugged in when i am not using it. Any thoughts on that practice?

Keeping the batteries on a float charge when not in use is good practice.

How does the meter ever read correctly then if it’s never off the charger for more than 12 hours?

I did not see an answer to the earlier question. Will the new digital meter have a way to hook up from the existing wires already run to my current bar meter, so all I have to do is remove the dash section and attach the same wires to the new meter, without having to tear out the floorboard and rerun wires back to the battery terminals or on/off switch?

But my current meter has three terminals, while the ones I see only have two. As I remember, I have the third wire going to the key switch. Where will my existing wire coming from the key switch be connected?

Hi...the Balmar Smart Gauge (BSM) and the Blue Sea Volt meter are like apples and oranges. While you may have arrived at a reasonable conclusion "the cost of the BSM is more than the value it serves in my case" it is not supported in the logic you explain in your question.
Some folk just want sensors to tell them everything about their boat systems. State of Charge, Voltage levels, Amp Hours being used, etc. Some folk need all this information.
