Battery Charging 36v CC DS
2000 Ds 36v. Lestronic II automatic charger. Charged for several hours last night. Today packs reads 6.3 each and 38.4 total.
Brand new batteries. Charger never shut off, needle looked like right at zero. I took a reading with charger running about an hour before disconnecting, meter read 38v. Does this sound normal? Should I have let it run more? Don't want to ruin these new batteries. Thanks for all replies! |

Re: Battery Charging 36v CC DS
I’d leave it about 12 hours if the batteries are new and you’re sure the charger is working.

Re: Battery Charging 36v CC DS
I'm not sure the charger is working correctly. With the voltages I have today, shouldn't it have shut off?

Re: Battery Charging 36v CC DS
The old chargers I had on my 36's would go right down to "0" amps just like a car charger and after a while finally shut off. Not like the Powerdrive chargers on OBC carts. It may have been just topping it off with a high voltage/low amperage finish. When you hook it back up today, once you see the charger at "0" amps (which it is probably not, most likely it is still delivering low amperage) check and see what the voltage is as it should be pretty high (mid to upper 40's I believe)

Re: Battery Charging 36v CC DS
I would definitely let that run an hour or two as the amps are negligible.... Hopefully it is just topping it all off and will shut off soon.

Re: Battery Charging 36v CC DS
Keep going pal, you are still at a very low amperage....
(Does you charger say on the back what the MOV is? Like my Powerdrive says 60 volts max but charges all the time to 62-63 volts.) |
