Default Changing brakes

My 2004 club car precedent needed new brakes, before I got to chance them, the brake cables caught on fire at the spring where the cables connect to the bracket. I put new brake cables, new adjusters, new brake shoes on. Started driving the golf cart and it again ran hot at the spring and almost caught fire again. Why is the spring getting so hot and what is the fix? Do I need to adjust the brakes?

Sounds like a friction problem.

Are you using aftermarket brake parts or factory components?
