Cons of 48v motor in 36v cart?
I’ve got an 82 club car Ds that the motor is bad. I have access to a 48 volt motor.
I’m gonna take this one to the Motor shop to see about repairing is repairable but curious if I could just drop the 48v motor in without any issues? I searched and got conflicting answers but most common answer is it will be slow. Slow as slower than a 48 volt cart or slower than my 36v if was functioning? Thank you |

My understanding is that yes it will be slower than a 48v cart or your 36v cart if it was working...
I'm sure the more knowledgeable electric guys will be along to say for sure... |

Yeah, you do not want to do that unless you have no other choice. Slower, less torque, more heat, etc.... (It was designed to have 48+ volts going through it)
