Re: 4 ga wire
The "wire" you need to use is welding cable. Yes you can make your own and many here do just that.
Our sponsors have complete 4ga pre-made kits: http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/site-sponsors.php If you want to make your own, try here: https://weldingsupply.securesites.co...EF367352::::PA |

Re: 4 ga wire
Making your own is fine. I made my own. Oh, by the way the proper crimping tool to do it right costs about $125.00. I have one

Re: 4 ga wire
Boy does that ever suck. I paid over $100.00 for a tool that looks just like the one with the yellow handles

Re: 4 ga wire
Hey all.
I just got in all the stuff I need to make my own: 25' #4 red welding cable, bottle of liquid rosin, and enough solder pellets and lugs to do 12 cables, although I count 11. I realize by searching the posts that there are a bunch of ways to do this, like crimp or solder only or both. I chose the commercial route because it's a no-brainer for me, even though it costs more overall. I figure I'm at about $110 for all the materials. Here's a video of this particular method. The only difference is, I'm going to put on two coats of liquid tape before I heat-shrink the joint. |

That's cool. I've never done it the right way.

Re: 4 ga wire
I have soldered all my cables so far. That system looks so easy a caveman could do it. Thanks for the video and thanks Doug for the crimper info.
