This is what you have to do,The two battery's to the right of this pic that are wired together pos to neg with a battery cable, then hook the charger pos to neg,on the post with no cable, not just one battery you have to do two at a time.--12v

Heres what I have... Have an extra pacer battery in the barn. Im gonna buy one more new battery this weekend. Then Ill have install them and have a 48 volt cart. The only prob is the batt in the barn has been sitting for about a year. Its dead. I need to charge it. If I hook it up with teh new battery will it charge , since the new battery will be fully charged??

You have a 50/50 chance that this battery is no good. Leaving a wet cell batt in a state of discharge for extended periods of time results in perminent damage or death. You will have diminished performance at best. You better buy 2 new ones and google some basic lead acid battery care info.... the folowing is from the Trojan Battery Maintenance recommemdations:

4.1.
Storage in Hot Environments (greater than 90°F or 32°C)

Avoid direct exposure to heat sources, if possible, during storage. Batteries selfdischarge
faster in high temperatures. If batteries are stored during hot, summer
months, monitor the specific gravity or voltage more frequently (approximately every 2-4
weeks).
4.2.

Storage in Cold Environments (less than 32°F or 0°C)

Avoid locations where freezing temperatures are expected, if possible, during storage.
Batteries can freeze in cold temperatures if they are not fully charged. If batteries are

stored during cold, winter months, it is critical that they are kept fully charged.

whats wrong with just jumping relay and charging your batteries for 4-6 hours??
seems like the easy way to charge up then return connections back to relay and let the charger do its job.
