Runs fine but low power!
Hello, I have a 2001 ezgo 2+2 with a 6" lift, 23 inch tires,28 degree driven clutch and the 295. It starts and runs fine, but seems to be lacking power. I have adjusted the valves and checked the compresision. Compression seems to be a little low in the 130 to 135psi range. Seems a little puzzling that it doesn't burn oil and runs and starts fine. Does anybody have any wisdom that might help? The motor is engraved with the date 5-5-09, so I assumed it was rebuilt not to long ago.

Re: Runs fine but low power!
Did you hold the throttle open when you ran the compression test?

Re: Runs fine but low power!
Why do you need to hold the throttle in while you check compression? I am fairly new to carts but I have never heard of this. Thanks

Re: Runs fine but low power!
i dont hold it open when i do compression test. I have tired it and got no diff in compression.
i would make sure the throttle cables are operating correctly and the clutches are in good shape and not stickin. |

Re: Runs fine but low power!
Yea, I've checked that. It has a 28 degree machined driven clutch from CPP, and I also installed a power spring for the clutch. Top speed is 18.5 mph but it seem very weak in getting there and seems to lack power. Again, thanks for any insight or wisdom that can be spared.

Does the condition change with the exhaust off or have you tried that?

Re: Runs fine but low power!
compression is low on that engine.....
when all else fails check the output of the start/gen, if they are overcharging it'll put a huge load on the engine and it'll drag the whole cart down. |

Re: Runs fine but low power!
How about your brakes? Check adjustment. YOur drive belt? Your 23" tires will give you top end but acceleration suffers. Put back your old 18" and feel the difference.
