Solenoid posts too big???
Ok, so I have a 1999 ezgo txt dcs I purchased an Alltrax 400 DCX controller used that came with a new mzj-400s Solenoid. My question is when I go to hook up the solenoid in my golf cart the posts are slightly too big and none of the connectors will fit over them? Do I not have the correct solenoid or is there something I can do?

Re: Solenoid posts too big???
I believe the posts are 3/8 I see how the posts can be taken out. Would it be ok if I changed them out for the 5/16 like my connections?

Re: Solenoid posts too big???
Might be easier to bore out the ring terminals to 5/16.

Like " JohnnieB " said. A chainsaw file will do this nicely! You would add resistance by putting smaller posts on the solenoid.
You could also change your cable ends too. |

Re: Solenoid posts too big???
You might consider a smaller solenoid. The unit you have is rated 400amps continuous & 1000 amps peak... 2Xs what's needed. And drilling out the cable terminals compromises them somewhat.
You would be better off with the 200amp version (800a peaks) and the cables will fit. Sell the big honking unit (which does not mount to the alltrax control without an adapter or modification) to pay for the correct size solenoid. |
