Default 08 CC brake cable

Hi,

My 08 club car has been locking up on the drivers side when braking, and after reading a number of posts, I found that the passenger side brake cable has come detached from the coupling behind the pedal, the 'stopper' has come off the end of the cable. I've attached a picture, you can see the end of the cable. My question is, do I need an entire new cable, or is it possible to crimp a stopper thing on the end?? Sorry if I don't have the correct terminology!! See the picture...

Thanks in advance for your help!

Greg

It's worth a shot. Is there enough cable to works with? The only thing that would concern me is your right cable will be shorter and might grab before your left side does but not sure?

Might be better just to spend for a new one.

If you are going to replace one cable, we suggest replacing both. We have the set for $38

OK. Thanks. I've ordered the cables, but I'd still like to find a cable stop, but the diameter of the cable makes it hard to find one.

I had an ezgo cart that had the same issue. After I jacked up the cart, and crawled under to look, I saw there was a "keeper" clip on one cable, but not the other.

i serached all over the net looking for one buy had no luck. I went down to lowes hardware, and they have a bunch of pull out drawers that they keep metric stuff and all kinds of misc parts.

Well they had a drawer of keepers. They sold them individually for 38 cents.

So I bought a couple ( big spender). Went home, and installed it, and it was the correct size. Anyway it works on an ezgo.

Make sure you change them both as the newer style cables have different ends on them due to this situation happening far too often. They are slightly longer than the old ones.

Ok, that's all good info. I have ordered both cables and will change them both. But I will look at Lows for a cable stop, aware that it's a bit of a patch fix. I have heard that its difficult to remove the clips where the cables travel through the frame, not far behind the pedal end of the cables.

I've heard you can use a 1/2" Deep Well socket to slide over the end of it and it will compress the clips. But I've never tried it. I've got the tool for it
