Default Changing Tires CC CarryAll Gas--- Significant Speed Increase!!

I currently have a 1999 Gas Club Car Carryall Turf II.

I tried the ziptie method on the governor and increased my speed easily from 12 mph to 15/16 mph(currently).

My cart has original 8 inch rims with 18x8.5-8 tires on them.

I am looking at purchasing 12 inch rims with Mojave All Terrain- 23x10.5-12 (4 ply) tires and installing a 6 inch lift kit.

Questions:

Will this significantly increase the speed on the cart? (If so, how much possibly?)

I remember reading a thread on here that included a link or an excel sheet of a speed calculator per the change in tire size but can't seem to locate it.

I also remember reading about the torque and horsepower needing to be able to handle the weight of the tires for the increase. Also, mentioned the gear ratio...which I have no knowledge/clue of what that is??

Everything on my cart is stock.

Will my cart be able to support new wheels/tires and give me the increase I am looking for?

Any guidance/knowledge is appreciated!!!!!

Many people here have lifts with 22's/23's on their carts without any additional mods!
Going from 18" to 23" tires should give you an extra 3 or 4 mph depending on the surroundings.

The speed calculator is in the "Quick Links" tab, (2nd tool bar... on the right)

http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/speed-calculator.php

Your gear ratio should be 11.8:1 (11.8 )
the only other thing you'll need to know is your RPM's at WOT (wide open throttle)

It's noted that the calculator is for "estimates only", but I've found it's pretty accurate! (+ or - 1/2 mph)

So based on the calculator when I'm doing 24mph per my gps the motor has to be turning 5500.

That doesn't sound right to me. I run around all day long at 20+ with no issues. Could I possibly be running it that hard?

adjust the governer up to where it does not pull back at all the cut the brown ground wire in rev limiter put tape on both ends of that wire. then lift when the oil light comes on and it is going to eat up ur gen/starter not made to turn that hard. should run around 20 to 25 mph

I put 12:1 rear end, 18" tires into the calculator.

I have been running it like this for months. Every day. No issues so far. I just don't want to grenade it until I'm ready for a BB.

Question Re: Changing Tires CC CarryAll Gas--- Significant Speed Increase!!

So I had to change my order of the 23" tires I originally wanted and I went with a set of 25x10.5-12 desert fox tires on some nice black 12" rims.

I am still waiting on the Jake's Double A-Arm 6" Lift Kit to arrive.

Anyway.....

I received the mounted tires a few days ago...and holy crap they are a lot bigger than what I was picturing in my mind. Look like they could fit an old Honda civic or something!

What are your thoughts...will my 99 Gas Carryall REALLY be able to push these things and make a difference in speed? given I have done absolutely no engine modifications to it...

Thanks

I'm waiting to see how that works out for you. I'm also planning on doing 25's. Based on the math, it will be about an increase of factor of 1.4. Thats actually a little less than an 8:1 gear set so it should work.
