Default Powerdrive 3 Model 26580 charger gets hot

I very recently got a new (to me) 2010 48v Club Car. The charger, a Powerdrive 3, Model 26580, gets hot when charging. The cord at the plug seems pretty warm but the charger itself get hot enough I have to let it cool down a bit before I can move it bare handed very far.
Is this normal?
