precedent model vs ds model
Is there a big power difference or not ? I am after another cart and I am trying to find out if the extra cost it worth it.
Thanks Dan |

Re: precedent model vs ds model
Well I know there is a 2 h.p. difference. I was just wondering if that 2 h.p. makes a big enough difference to spend 500 buck more for one.
Thanks Dan |

Or you can look at it like 15% more horsepower. The 250 per H.P. sounds too high

Re: precedent model vs ds model
It's to my understanding... (correct me if I'm wrong, guys)
That the DS and Precedent are almost identical when it comes to the engine and drive train! The body, frame, front end components and wiring, are completely different! Now... If you compare an 2008 DS, to a Precedent... the engines may be different! (correct me again if needed) Right around 06 or 07, Precedents came standard with the larger FE350 engine, Whereas the DS still has/had the FE290 So... yeah... the Precedent would have more power! (There should be a paper tag on the plastic flywheel cover that will start out FE290 or FE350) IMO... It really depends what body style you like, and what you want to do with it! Good luck with your decison! |

Re: precedent model vs ds model
I have always liked the DS model carts, but I am building a Precedent cart now. The DS cart has the FE290 engine. The 2004 and 2005 model Precedent carts had the FE290 as well. They went to the FE350 in the Precedent models in 2006. The FE290 is rated at 9 hp and the FE350 at 11 hp. I am not sure it is worth the $500.00 difference for the slight increase, but if I was looking for a Precedent I would go with a 2006 model or later.
