1992 ParCar front body plastic type?
Does anyone know what type of plastic was used for the front clip on a 1992 Columbia ParCar? I am looking to perform some plastic welding and would like to ensure I have the correct materials. Thanks in advance

I have no clue. That said, I have used standard fiberglass resin / bondo on those bodies and it holds well if you need options other than the welding.

Re: 1992 ParCar front body plastic type?
After much research and some disassembly, I finally arrived at the answer to my query. The front body plastic, at least for the 1992 ParCar, is Thermoset plastic. This type of plastic is generally not easily weldable.
Thermoset plastic does not respond to heat, as far as remelting. I have been successful welding the clip with polycarbonate rod after gouging material from each side of the crack. Most guides for repairing thermoset refer to utilizing epoxies with a strength harder than the original material. |
